Lattice pieced struts enamelled with garnet set centre stone with green stones and pearls ( cultured, probably ) set around the outer rim of the silver brooch. This is a Renaissance revival piece probably made in middle Europe in the late 19th century. The green stones need testing to establish if they are emerald. For the moment they are taken as genuine - this is based on the opinion of a number of experts who have examined the piece. The piece does bear some stamps but they are quite illegible.
Size : 2.5 cm. ( 1" ) x 2.5cm. ( 1 " ).
Weight : 7g.
Condition : good - the enamelling has suffered a tiny bit - wonderfully highlighted by the camera but , in reality, not really off putting at all.
A square pieced enamel and gem set silver (800 ) brooch, late 19th. century.
