Case: 28mm round gold plated watch case with small pin lugs attached to an expandable gold-plated link bracelet. The snap on back cover has a polished exterior while the interior of the cover reveals a trademark of 'R W' with what looks like an anchor between the letters. In French it is written that the case is gold plated metal with a finish guaranteed to last at least 5 years .
The phrase "plaqué or" means gold plated; rather confusingly for English speakers, the Swiss/French word for gold is "or".
"Plaque or", or "plaqué or", usually means the item was made from material plated with thin sheets of gold mechanically bonded or welded to a base metal core, rather than plated by electro-deposition. This is often accompanied by a guarantee such as "garanti x ans", which means "guaranteed to wear for x years", usually 5, 10, 20 or 30 years, before the base metal might show through.
The extract from La Fédération Horlegère Suisse from May 1926 says that the Bureau of Control are responsible for the guarantee of duration of the plate - la duree du plaque - that is marked, as well as any other indications that are marked.
