Foliate- form candlesticks from H. Voisenet, , 61 Rue de Turrene, Paris seldom come up for sale and not much is known about the maker. The style and markings indicate manufacture to sometime before 1892 but after 1870. His candlesticks were mainly gold-plated ( dore bronze ). This pair was not , apparently, gold plated. As you will see from the photographs each piece has a hole in it , at the base. I can tell you that having scanned the internet, I did, years ago, find an identical pair on line at a French auction house which also had the same holes - it was just stated that the holes' function was an unknown matter. I suspect that perhaps they were once an adornment ( garniture ) to a larger bronze piece. I am however just speculating!
However, one can clearly state that this pair of candlesticks is extremely attractive , rare and worthy of purchase by a collector.
Condition : good - to be spruced up a bit more, if so desired!
Size : 18 cm. ( 7 3/32" ) tall and 20 cm. ( 7 7/8") wide.
Total weight of the pair : 2,318 g. ( hence, to post these to the USA , for example, will cost $ 50approx. - for your information ).
