The slip cast molded body modelled with low relief thistle flowers alternating with vertical foliage in colored glazes and gilt highlights. An example of this model, i.e. number 3028, is on display at the Museé de la Faience, France.
Size : 25.5 cm. ( 10 3/64" ) tall, diameter : 12 cm. ( 4 23/32 " ).
Condition : very good - no chips, cracks or other defects/flaws. Please note that under normal light conditions the item's colours appear as being somewhat darker. These snaps were taken in the conservatory on a very bright day!
This has been made by a very well known French pottery that made a wide variety of wares and glaze effects.
One of the glaze effects they did use was Majolica ( Faience ) where the glaze is pigmented and applied to the body and then fired and this vase has that type of glaze in a very simple way. It has just used two colors in vertical strips which has then been given gilt detailing.
