On offer for sale is a very characterful, vintage needlework sampler dated 1843. This makes it about 176 years old. The condition is not perfect, it does have some small holes, wear and discoloration, but still looks great in my opinion. The fact that this piece is not perfect, is what makes it so appealing. It's all been hand stitched by a young lady of just 8 years of age back in the year 1843. Please check out all of the images to see the quality and detailed needlework. Signed in needlework (Elizabeth Francis Scaddan aged 8 years 1843). Approximate dimensions 14 3/4 inches by 16 5/8 inches including the frame and 12 1/2 inches by 14 1/4 inches of the visible sampler. Comes with a vintage frame which somebody replaced the backing to keep the dust and dirt out, so it's now nice and secure and ready to be hung on the wall and admired. You also need to take into account that this work was done by an eight year old girl back in the days when this type of work was required by young ladies of means as part of their education. I can't imagine anyone would be disappointed with this sampler, but as with all vintage pieces such as this you should not expect them to be perfect as they will show signs of age as described.
