On offer for sale is a stunning looking vintage needlework sampler dating to circa 1850. Approximate dimensions 17 inches by 20 1/2 inches including the frame and 12 5/8 inches by 16 1/4 inches of the visible sampler. This needlework sampler comes with it's equally stunning and original birds-eye maple frame. Signed in needlework (Mary Watts Eaton her work finished in the ninth year of her age). I can see no sign this has ever been out of it's frame. This sampler is on it's original stretcher backing. The overall condition of the sampler and frame is really good, with no issues to mention. Please view all of the images to see the quality needlework in this sampler. It's very decorative with good overall colors. Two harps and a bird at the top and two flower displays at the bottom with a nice prayer in the center surrounded by a very decorative border. The combination of the sampler and the birds-eye maple frame makes for a stunning looking piece. You also need to take into account that this work was done by a nine year old girl back in the days when this type of work was required by young ladies of means as part of their education. I can't imagine anyone would be disappointed with this sampler, but as with all vintage pieces such as this you should not expect them to be perfect as they will show normal signs of age such as minor usage marks, wear and discolorations.
