On offer for sale is a beautiful quality vintage needlework sampler dated 1823. The condition is good for it's age, but not perfect. There are a few very tiny holes with a larger one part way down on the left side border, but all things considered, very minor. Approximate dimensions 19 1/4 inches by 16 3/4 inches including the frame and 13 1/4 inches by 11 inches of the visible sampler. Signed and dated in needlework (Elizabeth Jeffery Avon, Nov. 26 1823). Please view all of the images to see the beautiful quality needlework in this sampler. There is a house with trees and shrubs, various birds and other animals, a crown by the picket fence and a strawberry design border. Comes with an early frame which is close to the same age as the sampler, and the sampler is not a perfect fit in the frame. The frame does have some condition issued with some wear, usage marks and gesso loss, but it does suit this sampler really well. Samplers like this were all part of a young ladies education back in the day and would have taken months and months to complete. I can't imagine anyone would be disappointed with this sampler, but please remember this is a vintage item which is about 195 years old, so it will show normal signs of age as described along with some fading and discoloration.
