On offer for sale is a vintage needlework sampler dated 1808. It's in original condition and still retains it's original frame, which it shows no signs of ever being out of. Approximate dimensions 13 1/2 inches by 14 3/4 inches including the frame and 11 1/4 inches by 12 1/2 inches of the visible sampler. The condition is not perfect, it has some discolorations and fading due to age, but is a very characterful piece. The fact that this piece is still around and in it's original frame after 210 years is amazing. It's signed and dated by the young lady who did this work (Mary Brown age 9, 1808). All part of young ladies education back in the day was to learn needlework skills, and producing a sampler like this would have been a big achievement which would have likely taken them a year or more to complete. Please look at all of the images and check out the quality needlework, and remember this was completed by a nine year old. Decorated with plants, trees, animals, birds, two reindeer on the lower edge, two owls, a short verse along with the tree of life. The frame shows signs of age with usage marks and wear, but suits the overall look of the sampler perfectly. As with all vintage items such as this you should not expect them to be perfect as they will show normal signs of age.
