On offer for sale is a very attractive rosewood, Victorian, circa 1870 ladies vanity box. The condition is good for it's age, but it's not perfect, and you shouldn't expect it to be as it is an early piece that was in constant daily use back in the day. Approximate dimensions 12 inches long by 9 inches wide and 6 1/2 inches high. Beautiful rosewood exterior, which is quite shiny, so there are a lot of reflections in the images. The interior reveals it's original glass containers with silver plated covers and two glass topped jars. The long container has a large crack through it, but all of the others are in good shape. Come with sterling silver handled glove stretchers. The interior compartments had some minor restoration here and there at some time in the past , and the interior paper lining was meticulously redone at some time in the past as well. This was an expensive item in it's day, and still looks great today. Mother of pearl decoration on the lid and keyhole. There is a drawer which is accessed by releasing the pull up rod on the right side, and the drawer is spring loaded so it springs out when released and pushes back in to secure again with the rod. This piece is sure not to disappoint, but please bear in mind it is a vintage item and will show normal signs of wear, usage marks and minor restorations.
