On offer for sale is a beautiful oil painting on tin of a sailing boat near a rugged shoreline in rough seas dating to circa 1870. It's in good original condition, and comes with it's equally attractive and original frame, which has just a little gesso loss in the lower right corner. The painting with this frame make a very handsome package and compliment each other really well. There are signs of a signature in the lower right corner, but I can't make it out? The scene depicts a sailing ship by the rugged shore, and in the background area I can see a sailing/steamship and some other small sailing boats. There is a title on the back of the painting (Nr. Mouth of the Thames), which is referring to the River Thames which runs through London. Approximate dimensions 15 inches by 12 1/2 inches including the frame and 8 1/2 inches by 6 inches of the visible painting. This piece is sure not to disappoint, but please bear in mind this is a vintage item and will show normal signs of age which are to be expected.
