On offer for sale is a stunning looking and very early needlework sampler dated 1763, and still in it's original frame. Approximate dimensions 15 1/8 inches by 17 1/8 inches including the frame and 12 1/2 inches by 14 1/2 inches of the visible sampler. This sampler is around 255 years old. Signed and dated in needlework (Elizabeth Bangham 1763). It's in good condition with some fading and discoloration around the edges. Intricate flower design around the border, along with squirrels and birds on the interior. Please check out all of the images to see the two cherubs on either side of the verse at the top. The frame is in good condition for it's age with some to be expected signs of age such as usage and wear marks. This is a great sampler that is ready to be hung on the wall and admired for many more years to come. Samplers like this were a test of a young ladies needlework skills back in the day and all part of her required education.
