On offer for sale is a stunning looking, vintage needlework sampler dating to the early 1800's. It's in good original condition, including the original frame. It's always a thrill to find an early sampler like this still in it's original frame. Approximate dimensions 16 1/4 inches by 16 1/2 inches including the frame and 11 3/4 inches by 12 inches of the visible sampler. Signed in needlework (Jemima Storkey Aged 10). The overall condition is good with a few very small holes, hardly worth mentioning, and to be expected with a piece of this age. Beautiful, bright vibrant colors, along with a nice verse. Birds and animals depicted, along with the tree of life and a very attractive border. Original frame, glass and backing wood make this a very appealing piece altogether. The frame shows obvious signs of age, wear and usage marks, but not more than would be expected for it's age. This sampler is ready to be hung on the wall and admired for many more years to come. Samplers like this were a test of a young ladies needlework skills back in the day and all part of her required education. If you like vintage samplers, then you will not be disappointed with this piece, but please bear in mind it is a vintage item and will show normal signs of age such as wear, usage marks and discoloration.
