On offer for sale is a lovely 19th. Century needlework alphabet sampler. It's in good original condition for it's age with some fading and discoloration. Signed in needlework Elisabeth Smith aged seven. Approximate dimensions 10 5/8 inches by 17 1/8 inches including the frame and 9 3/4 inches by 16 1/4 inches of the visible sampler. Comes in a later frame. There is some pencil writing on the back which is difficult to make out, but it's mentions a date of circa 1810, not sure if this is referring to the age of the sampler or possibly the relatives of the young lady who did this sampler. Either way, this is a very interesting piece. This type of needlework was required education for young ladies back in the day. As with all vintage items like this you should expect to see normal signs of age such as wear, fading, discoloration and usage marks. This is ready to be hung on the wall and admired for many years to come. This will be well packaged in a custom made wooden box to ensure it's safe arrival.
