Unique ,late 19th century, aesthetically inspired floral study necklace. C1900.
A delightful study of two full carnation blooms with strategic curling leaves set onto a freestyle curved frame background. The oval "en tremblant" dropper holds a natural coral, salmon pink coloured stone within a bezel lipped mount.
Chain is quite an unusual style comprising one alternate long and three short links. Fully soldered through the length which is always a great indication of quality. There is a diamond shaped punch mark to the back and a small one to the clasp but unfortunately I can not decipher either. Brought back from the Burgundy region of France and has been tested and confirmed as 900 plus silver quality.
Height of the central pendant is around 1 7/8 inches and the width of this , together with the chain , combines to a total of 16 1/4 inches in length.
Very nicely crafted indeed and the addition of the dark pink coral stone to these lovely carnation flowers was probably , by Victorian sentiments, to signify a mother's love. What a special gift to give to or receive from your loving mother!!
In very good antique condition for the age and looks just stunning on the neck!
Thanks for looking, hope you love it!
