This petite sterling nut dish is elaborately pierced with geometric shapes. The upper rim boasts eight scallops that are decorated with two different motifs. One is made up of scrolls and flowers. The other is a cross-hatch design with a single flower at the base. The overall width is 3-1/2 inches. The piece stands 3/4 inches high.
It is marked S&Co along with an anchor - lion - g. My internet research indicates that S & Co was the mark for Steinhart & Co. of Birmingham and Sydney & Co. as well. Thus we are not sure which maker this piece can be attributed to. We believe it to be early 1900's in either case.
