This pretty little Dutch pastry server has a silver purity of .833 and dates to 1922. The top of the handle features a windmill with blades that are movable. The serving portion of the piece is decorated at the top with a tavern scene. The detail of the people and dog are very crisp and well executed. The lower portion, which is reticulated, is made up of lovely flourishes and flowers.
The marks which can be seen along the top edge of the serving portion include the lion passant with a key to its left. The key mark was used from 1853-1953 to indicate the object was made for export. The lion passant with a #2 underneath tells us that its silver purity is .833. This particular M in a circle dates the server to 1922.
The pastry server measures 7-7/8" long and is 2-5/8" wide.
What an interesting piece for use at your table.
