We offer a sterling silver ladle designed with an Arts & Crafts period hand hammered finish on both the bowl and the handle. The pointed tip of the handle is decorated with a shield surrounded by a wreath with a bow at its base. We believe the monogram reads RP. The only marking is 925 000 on the back of the handle.
In trying to identify the maker of this piece, we visited online the SMP Silver Salon Forums. The writer on this forum indicated that he had seen this mark on handmade pieces that he believed to be from the 1910's to 1920's. In other posts on the forum, there were pieces with the 925 000 mark that also included the name of the retail outlet where they were sold. Speculation was that the silversmith sold thru various retail outlets. This ladle, however, is only marked 925 000.
The ladle measures 6-l/2 inches long. The handle is 5 inches long. The bowl part is 2-1/2 inches wide. It weighs 77.8 grams.
