Belle Auberge Sterling pattern was introduced by Kirk Stieff in 1980. The pattern was discontinued in 1991. This solid gravy ladle measures 6-5/8" long. The nicely curved handle features open work, flourishes, flowers and a beaded design. The cluster of flowers on the tip end is repeated again as the handle narrows. The attention to detail is excellent on the back as well.
According to Warman's Sterling Silver Flatware Value & Identification Guide, the Kirk Stieff Corp. began in Baltimore in 1815 as Kirk & Smith, and for the next 100 years generations of the Kirk family operated the firm. The Stieff co. of Baltimore acquired the Kirk Co. in 1979.
