Pierre Moreau French Satirical Illustration Black and White C.1905 Couple on Street

Original black and white magazine illustration lithographic print C.1905 cut from a magazine page after a work of art by listed artist Pierre Louis Moreau. It is signed in the image "Pierre Moreau" lower left. Free USA shipping.

There is a well dressed couple with a large man in a long topcoat with a smaller women.

The caption below the scene reads in French:
"Voila une petite femme qui me regarde de bien pres. Est ce qu'elle auriat envie de me lever?".

A rough translation is :
"Here is the small woman who considers at me as the good(property) near. What is what she(it) auriat desire(envy) to raise me?.

(It seems to be not translating correctly online and I don't know French).

I have not examined it out of the wrapping. I don't know what magazine it is from but guarantee this is an original magazine illustration from the early 1900's.

Caricature and cartoon, in graphic art, comically distorted drawing or likeness, done with the purpose of satirizing or ridiculing its subject. Cartoons are used today primarily for conveying political commentary and editorial opinion in newspapers and for social comedy and visual wit in magazines.

Sheet size - Height - approx. 11 3/8"
Width - approx. 8 3/4".

Pierre Louis Moreau was a French artist who was born in 1876 and died in 1960. He was a painter, sculptor and graphic artist.

Condition: This has been trimmed somewhat unevenly from a magazine page but probably a mat would be able to cover the uneveness. It has some age toning and some light soiling. There are creases and losses to the top corners. There is most likely text printed on the back.

The print has been placed against a sheet of white faced posterboard covered with a sheet of plastic wrap that has been scotch taped against the back. The back isn't completely sealed. I have not taken it apart because I think the paper might be brittle and I don't wish to damage it with handling.
