It is signed "Frederic Steele" in the lower right corner. The paper the drawing is on has been glued or mounted onto a thin piece of cardstock or thin cardboard. Frederic Dorr Steele was an American artist born in 1873. He passed on in 1944. He worked mostly as a professional illustrator and is most famous for his illustrations for the Sherlock Holmes stories.
