This darling diamond beauty dates back to around 1840, the end of the Georgian period. These rings are so hard to find now so were were very pleased to have crossed paths with her !
She is hallmarked with 18CT for English 18 karat gold, which is of gentle yellow tone. The top of the open back, pinched settings ( no need to take the ring off when washing your hands :) made of silver. The cut out open backs are divine - what super fine work and an amazing craftsmanship ! All made by hand and tool. The five absolutely gorgeous diamonds feature a fabulous cut - chunky, square cushion cut with high tables and lovely large culets. Their estimated total weight is 1 carat and are all original to the ring with no replacements. They are truly stunning stones with a light moonlight grey tone to them - how the Georgians love them. They are clean and very bright and twinkly. Two of them show some minute inclusions but you need a strong loupe to see them. The rings shank with the entwined shoulder detail is exquisite and is fashioned in a shape of an 8. This was a symbol of infinity, never ending love and renewal....
The diamond section of this ring measures 0.67 inches across the finger and 4.9 mm north to south. It sits nice and low, 4.4 mm of the top of the finger and weighs 3 grams. She is a size US 8 7/8 or UK R 1/2 and can be re-sized a fair bit. She is in a fantastic overall antique condition.
We love ...... the gorgeous shape of this ring with the beautiful diamonds shown to their very best. An only ring on your finger or in a fabulous stack..... your best diamond friend is here !
