This gorgeous pup is wearing a sweet diamond studded collar ..... on a gold safety pin..... can anything be any more delightful??
We bought this fab pin because we loved the dog's expressive face. What a sweetie !! The quality of the pin is what drew us to it too. It feels weighty and solid and is so well made! We also really like the fact that it is not a classic brooch, but a safety pin of a sort. Some brooches can look a bit old fashioned and be tricky to wear - we want our jewellery to express our fabulousness and individuality while celebrating our love of antiques.... And stylish and elegant this dog pin most certainly is.
There are no hallmarks on him but he tests 15 carat gold and so is probably English. Judging by the style and workmanship he was hand crafted at the turn of the century, around 1890-1910. The pin weighs 6 grams exactly and is 2.15 inches long. The dog's sweet face measures 15.3 by 14.8 mm. The rose cut diamonds in his fine collar are set in silver. The fact that the brooch doesn’t feature the dog's body makes it difficult to determine what breed he is exactly, it is much harder to tell from just the head and face. But, I have it on good authority - thank you A ! :) - that the doggy here is most likely a sight hound.... or a mix with one. He was probably someone’s beloved pet and they had him immortalised in gold. He might not be a pure bread at all, but he is wonderful !! He is very finely engraved, even the front of his face as he is portrayed in profile ! The workmanship is fantastic, and so is his condition.

We love ........ him so much !! He is everything you want in a piece of jewellery ! Unique, fun, fantastic quality, lovable, looks gorgeous worn.....next best thing to a real dog. Will be happy to go for walks on your jacket or scarf..... he just needs a name !! :)
