Racing along is the beautifully made Edwardian jockey on a horse, depicted in the large brooch. It is a beauty - both the pin and the splendid animal caught in mid-motion ! We think they are winning the race !!
The quality of this piece, both in design and craftsmanship is fantastic. The brooch feels lovely and weighty in your hand at 9.9 grams. It is made in 9 carat buttery yellow gold and is hallmarked 9 ct. The fire gilding, so loved by the jewellers of the Victorian times has been used to create a super deep gold colour on the brooch. It is in great condition with absolutely minimal wear and offsets the fine chasing on the horse. The effect is a lovely, shiny coat on that stallion ! The jockey is enamelled, with a little bit of the enamel worn off on his riding boot. The brooch measures 1.39 by 1.29 inches. It dates to around 1900 and was made in England.
We love ....... this splendid and beautifully made animal racing away ....... we bet .....onto somebody's jacket lapel......
