This most darling Georgian natural turquoise and diamond ring from around 1830 is beauty itself !
The diamond is just stunning and has this old charm to it that I can't really describe....It is of Mazarin cut, the very first of the brilliant cut diamonds introduce in mid 17th century and evolved from an old single cut. They have seventeen facets to their top half. The shank of the ring is gorgeous, especially those wee shells the end of the shoulders. How the jewellers made all this by only hand and tool, with such fine detail....The ring is made of a lovely warm 15 carat gold.. not hallmarked, so it has been carefully tested. The ever so lightly moonlight grey diamond is super bright and estimated to weigh about 0.30 carats. The cut of it is so beautiful!! It is also in great condition!! The turquoise stones are such a gorgeous vibrant colour.. and just two show the tiniest chip each on the outer edge, nothing to worry about. The top of the cluster measures 0.42 x 0.41 inches and the ring sits 4.53 mm off the finger. We adore the chunkiness of that gorgeous diamond, a sparkly centre of the flower, the colour of the summer sky....
The ring is a US size 6.25 (a UK M 1/2) and can be sized.
What we love....... wouldn't she be the sweetest bridal ring?! Something old...... Something blue and...... Something borrowed ....... As you will be borrowing this rings history and it's presence in a life of a young Georgian lady long ago.......:)
