The most glorious, intense and saturated colour of these pink sapphires takes your breath away. It is magenta with the fabulous purplish undertones with the sheen and depth of the finest silk. It is what you see when you gaze into the depths of those stunning gemstones. At a time when they were set into this beautiful yellow colour band, around 1870-1880 these stones were considered to be rubies. Both rubies and sapphires are the same mineral - Corundum - but the different transient metal components in them produce different colours. The criteria for distinction between pink sapphires and rubies have changed in the USA in the 20th century but are still open for debate. According to the verbal gemological assessment we have these gorgeous gemstones should technically be called pink sapphires, but any antique jewellery dealer would most certainly consider them to be rubies. They are original to the ring, come from Burma and have no evidence of heat treatment. They have some rubbing to the facets which does not show when you look at them but you can examine the magnified images in our photos. The ring is made in England and is not hallmarked. The testing shows that it is 18 carat gold. She is a US 7 size (UK O) and suitable for resizing. The top of the ring is 18.5 mm across the finger and is 7.4 mm north to south. The largest centre stone measures 5.1 mm by 3.6 mm, the two middle ones 4.4 by 3.4 mm and smallest 4.2 by 3.3 mm. It weighs 3.6 grams. The open setting allows for easy wear of this ring as you don't need to be concerned if it gets wet.

We love the natural beauty of these stunning antique gemstones set in a simple, classic and timeless mount. The pop of colour is so eye catching and there is no need for other embellishments, these beauties speak for themselves! We love how the simple setting complements the jewel's opulence and how wearable this treasure is now. We love how this ring stacks with other rings and how impactful it is worn alone.
