It is quite easy to pick a pendant you love but the secret to it looking it's very best is to have a suitable chain for the piece. Framing your treasure "right" makes it look wholly and absolutely how it's creators intended. Oftentimes the most beautiful antique pendant can look odd or "unfinished" hanging on a chain that is too thin, too thick, wrong colour or too new.
Our wonderful chain here originates from the Victorian England of about 1870-1880. It is made in buttery yellow gold that has been fire gilded and this original antique patina is most attractive. It is fashioned in a twisted rope design and has a lovely chased barrel clasp. It is not hallmarked so we carefully tested it and it is 15 carat gold. The chain is 17 inches long including the length of the barrel - which measures 11.2 mm by 2.9 mm while the chain itself is 2.1 mm thick - substantial but of a prettily fine appearance. With the typically Victorian fire gilding on it it will sing ever so beautifully together with the majority of Victorian pendants - large and small. It looks so lovely by itself as well or in layers with other chains and pendants - please have a look at our photos for inspiration. It weighs 7.1 grams, is in a fantastic condition and feels smooth and silky against your neck.
We love .......this best supporting act......we think the most wonderful of pendants will not be the same without him. We think you need him ! :) And he deserves an Oscar !
