This wonderfully romantic 18th century English Giardinetti ring dates back to around 1760, possibly a touch earlier. It was called Giardinetti for " a little garden " in Italian. It is et with early table cut diamonds and rubies and represents a rose bud. The berry red/pink colour of the rubies is simply wonderful. We believe that the larges ruby had come out to be republished at some point of the ring's life while the smaller ones show faint abrasions. All of the gemstones are set in a closed back settings, which was the way jewels were set at the time. The ring is made in 18 carat gold and silver, it is not hallmarked and it has been machine tested to confirm the materials used. You don't see very many Giardinetti rings around this early and in such a good condition and we are delighted to have found this sweet early Georgian gem. It is size US 6 - 6 3/4 and UK M-N 1/2. The top of it measures 0.8 by 0.47 inches and it weighs 3.1 grams.
We love the gentle beauty and grace of this Georgian creation and it's wonderful gems so vividly presenting the gorgeous flower. Wearing it transports you back to the world long gone in the most romantic way.....
