Charming, chunky, opulent....... this beautifully carved wide banded buckle ring ticks all the boxes! Buckles symbolised never ending love and fern leaves fascination and hence were a covert way to express love and romantic interest in Victorian times. The carvings on this band are so crisp and in such an amazing condition, someone has really looked after this ring or perhaps it has spent much of it's time in a pretty Victorian jewellery box. Anyway this darling is fully hallmarked and is made of 18 carat gold, assayed in Birmingham in 1887, as the date letter "n" features in the hallmark. The ring was also fire gilded, to give a buttery yellow hue and it has stayed on so well. The band is 0.31 inches wide and the buckle section 0.42 inches - to give you an idea! She is about a US 5 1/2 - 5 7/8 (UK L - L 1/2) but then it can also be worn on smaller fingers, 5 1/8 too (UK K) if you like your rings a tiny bit looser. The wide band will sit very securely on the finger allowing for a bit of room on the sizing. Just as well as unfortunately it cannot be sized. It weighs a lovely and weighty 6 grams. It feels and looks fab on!! Gorgeous as a pinky ring too. Anyone looking for a special buckle ring?!
