Oh, the brightness ...... this wonderfully sparkly Edwardian Sterling Silver cross was hand made in England at the turn of the 19th and 20th century, around 1900. The cut of those paste ( glass ) stones is just like old cut diamonds, and the effect is amazing. The stones are slightly differing in shapes as they are cushion cut and they are silvered at the reverse which intensifies the bright effect. The silvering is slightly rubbed off on some stones but that just adds to the real gemstone effect, as they would never be perfectly evenly coloured. The pastes are set in gorgeous, elaborate claw settings which are beautifully decorated at the sides. that shows a quality workmanship. The cross is large, yet very wearable and it is 1.92 inches long ( 2.29 inches with it's silver bale , and that has 0.23 inches inner diameter ) and 1.35 inches wide. It weighs 6.4 grams. A stunning cross that can be worn on a silver or gold chain to a silk ribbon......simply wonderful.
