This beautiful Art Deco diamond engagement ring stuns with a wonderful, stylish shape and gorgeous, white diamonds!
Made in white gold around 1920 in England it is hallmarked with 18 ct. White gold was first introduced by the German jewellery makers in 1912 and became popular in the 1920's as an alternative to platinum. The ring also features 760 etched on the inside of it signifying a slightly higher gold content then the 750 required to achieve an 18 carat gold hallmark. This indicates that the ring was hand made, most likely to a special order as the five lovely and old step/French cut diamonds were cut and polished some years prior, most likely around 1850's. They would have possibly been a part of a different piece, a family jewel perhaps, now set in an engagement ring bringing with it the sentiment of a family continuity!
The ring weighs 2.3 grams, is a US size 6, UK size M. It is resizable :) The top section, to the shoulders, measures 0.34 by 0.66 inches and it sits 2.69 mm up, off the finger. The estimated total weight of the diamonds is 0.25 carats... lovely, white ( estimated G colour ), clean and bright stones and to give you an idea the centre diamond measures 2.57 by 1.80 mm.
