Here for sale we have an absolutely stunning, natural baroque pearl and rose diamond pendant. Judging by the style and typically fine work, we date it to around 1910-1915. There are three old French hallmarks and all confirm the pendant section and chain are both made of platinum. We find one mark on the bolt clasp of the chain (the French dogs head for platinum) and one on each of the two sections of the pendant drop (the French mask of a man for platinum).

The spirit of Belle Epoque just oozes from this wonderful piece. The work is fine and delicate, with sweet wee rose cut diamonds set in a mille grained setting, adorning the petal shaped top made for the original pearl. The pendant measures 1.07 x 0.4 inches and the pearl is sizeable, at 0.51 x 0.39 inches. The baroque pearls are the natural pearl variety with irregular shapes. This one has a wonderful uniform soft white colour and lustre with one small blemish near one of the petals. We photographed this for you.

The chain is original to the piece, fine yet strong. It measures 19 inches long. The use of platinum became very popular post 1900 and hit a high during the Edwardian and Art Deco periods. It was often chosen for extremely fine work, as we see in this pendant and chain, because out of all precious metals to work with it is possible to achieve the very finest, sharpest detail while using it. Do have a close look at the chain.. just look at all those individual super fine links (which were made by hand by the way… I know) and joined to form such a stunningly feminine chain… Platinum allows the master to do this… and how much time this would take them is mind boggling when you think about it.

Together the pendant and chain weigh 3.8 grams.

It will appeal to Belle Epoque lovers, pearl lovers, platinum lovers and those who are searching for their enchanting bridal pendant! Are some congratulations in order??

Please note that the last photo shows the pendant among three others not offered for sale in this listing.
