The most divine, late Victorian amethyst and diamond necklace and earring set. They look fab together or apart, perfect for so many different types of occasions. Both made around 1880 in England. The amethysts, a lush royal purple colour, weigh an estimated total weight of 6.73 carats in the necklace and 0.71 carats in the earrings. They are of a lovely quality and very good to excellent condition. The main central amethyst has a natural inclusion in the centre, but this is not noticeable when worn. 44 charming rose cut diamonds surround the purple gems in the necklace and 8 in the earrings. Both necklace and earrings are made of 18 carat yellow gold and silver - there is what looks like the remainder of an '18' hallmark on the clasp bolt. Both pieces have also been acid tested.
The necklace measures 17 inches. The end amethyst drop sections measure 0.79 inches down, graduating to 1.07 inches down on the central large drop. The drops fan beautifully across the décolletage. The earrings measure 1.58 inches long. The necklace weighs 26.8 grams and the earrings 3.6 grams. They are both in wonderful antique condition - just two of the rose cut settings on the necklace have been repaired in the past (photographed) and this is not noticeable when it is worn.
I tell no lie when I say that you will feel and look incredible when wearing this pair! Together or apart.
