These 1950's dangle earrings in late Art Deco style are elegant, bright and super sparkly .... the most gorgeous bright orange of the fire opals with icy white diamonds, divine!!

The opals have a fantastic saturation of colour with great clarity and brightness. These are the characteristics of fine fire opals. Fire opals are found predominantly in Mexico, hence are often called Mexican fire opals. They are also found in smaller quantities in Oregon but these are of very inferior colour and quality. Our gorgeous opals measure 12.78 by 8.31 mm and 12.76 by 8.32 mm, they are beautifully matched. They are estimated to weigh 5.00 to 5.50 carats together. They look a lot larger than their estimated weight, because fire opals are very light stones. To give you an idea - the exact same size sapphires would be estimated to weigh around 10 carats together. The opals are fabulous quality with intense, hot, deep orange tones. Looking at them is like looking into the fire !

The earrings are 27.97 mm long, fully articulated and sway with your every movement. They have post ear fittings, and are crafted entirely in platinum. They are not hallmarked so we had them tested to confirm the metal content. The earring butterflies are later and are hallmarked with PT 950 for platinum. The opals are set in fine four prong settings while the gorgeous white and super bright marquise cut diamonds are held in matching two prong settings. The diamonds are estimated to weigh 0.56 carats in total and are G-H colour and VS2 quality. The diamond settings are 2.62 mm in height, while the opal settings are 4.84 and 5.15 mm high. They and are open backed, so are safe to shower and swim in. The earrings weigh a light and comfortable 3.9 grams together with their butterfly fittings. They are in excellent vintage condition.
