Circa 1944 designed by Adolph Katz
Patent No. 138958
Featuring vermeil plated Sterling Frogs, embellished with a large oval amethyst faceted crystal belly stone and oodles of crystal chatons. Each frog has recognizable protruding eyes made of lucite half-spheres with a small black pellet in the middle. Each Frog has its own double prong clip mechanism so they can be worn separately. Simply detach from the Duette Pin Frame and clip to whatever you choose, or keep them attached to the frame and wear together.
Featured in Brunialti’s American Costume Jewelry Book, Vol. 1 (see photo of page from book below). Given a 5 star rating for RARITY, which is the highest rarity rating given. Not only is this a very special find, but it is in wonderful condition. This is one of those Coro duettes that collectors go crazy for because you simply NEVER see this on the market. According to Brunialti “It is an exceptionally rare item”.
This duette also comes with lucite jelly belly bodies. This crystal version was featured in Vogue and the jelly belly version in Harper’s Bazaar, in 1944 and 1945.
Each Frog is marked “Coro” at the bottom of one foot, and “Sterling”. The Frame is marked Coro Duette, Sterling and 1798867
