Designed by Alfred Philippe for TRIFARI and patented in 1947, this scarce and lovely BALLERINA is made of vermeil plated Sterling Silver, with a glass fx moonstone cabochon face, and embellished with crystal chaton rhinestones on her bodice, scattered throughout her fretwork tutu, adorning her wrists and shoes, and forming a crown or halo over her head.
She is enchantingly graceful with her ever so slightly arched back, arms raised and toes pointed elongating her stance, as we come to expect from a prima ballerina!
This is a BOOK PIECE and featured in Brunialti’s American Costume Jewelry Book, Vol. 2 (see photo of page from book). The book shows the golden and white trifarium version of this brooch, but as you can see referenced in the book, this piece also came in Sterling, which is what I am offering here - the Sterling version!
Patent 148,088 (see photo of patent drawing)
She measures 2 3/4” H x 1 3/8” W
She is hallmarked “Trifari” with the Crown above the T, “Sterling”, “Pat. Pend” and “9"
WONDERFUL CONDITION WITH ALL HER RHINESTONES PRESENT. SHE HAS A LOVELY PATINA
