Designed by Murray Slater for Urie Mandle DRAGON Figural Pin/Brooch
RARE Book Piece
(variant patented in Patent No. 149095 on March 23, 1948)
Made of vermeil plated Sterling Silver and highlighted with enameling and embellished with red and crystal chaton rhinestones
Wow…just look at the detail with the forked tongue, jagged teeth, prong-set rhinestone eyes, crystal rhinestone encrusted mouth and ears, inset nostrils, and scored textured neck! This is a super cool piece that is sure to strike up conversation...
The dragon design appears to have been made in a few different variants, including a chatelaine, a pin clip, and this pin/brooch. The chatelaine consists of a head and tail piece connected by loops and chain attached. This pin does not have the loop that would attach the chain so it is not part of a chatelaine and was clearly designed as a pin/brooch only. The patent drawing I am including in this listing is for the Pin Clip.
Hallmarked Sterling Pat Pend
2 1/2” L x 7/8” H x 1/2” Deep
WOW - this is an ultra rare find. Shows some minor wear to enamel and robust patina
***Due to the scarcity of this piece, the price is firm and no discounts so please don’t ask for one.***
