"Three Lemons," 1955, 23 x 26" (sight)
This motif is an fascinating marriage of the Modernist School of the 1950s, and Cezanne's composition of Still Life paintings.
Ib Eisner, born 1925, was known for his light and color, rendered in simple compositions. His motifs of situations where people meet, take walks together, talk, and etc, especially in the area around Bakken (amusement area north of Copenhagen) were very popular. The motif of this painting, a table of fruit around which would gather falls into this category.
After the Royal Academy of Art, Ib studied in France in 1948, returning again to Paris, Amsterdam, and London in 1989-1990. He has 6 pieces in Museums and Notable Collections. (Full biography comes with piece.)
