Vilhelm Jensen-Klimt, 1853 - 1930, was a noted artist and also architect. He graduated from the Royal Academy of Art in 1878, and attended Architecture school afterward.

He was the architect of the famous Grundtvig church in Copenhagen, for example. He earned his living from architecture, yet devoted a good deal of his spare time to painting. He exhibited at innumerable national shows, including a Retrospective the year after he passed away. He was also included in the Art Treasures show in London, 1948.

The motif shows the beauty and harshness of village life. On one hand, there is peace and quiet as the village is blanketed with snow. On the other hand, someone must go out on a cold winter morning and fetch water to get the day started. Painted in 1908, this was a real and contemporaneous view of village life. It's more nostalgic for us, a more simple way of life (even if Life Expectancy didn't measure up to the vision.) Either way, it's beautifully painted with sparkling blues and whites.

Painting is in excellent condition, recently cleaned. Original frame, black laminate is in good condition given it's age.
