Aage Bernhard Frederiksen, 1881, 1963, Oil on Canvas, 23 x27" (sight)
Frederiksen was renown for snow motifs from Juland, Denmark, which were bright and warm at the same time. The abundance of trees and farm buildings certainly adds to its warmth. This motif is a prime example: A farm couple is outside their cottage by the lake, cutting firewood. The snow rests comfortably on the country lane, which is indented by footprints.
Aage won the Otto Bach Memorial Award, and was represented in 60 exhibitions in Copenhagen and Jutland.
