Torremolinos, Spain, ca 1948, 23.5 x 27.5" (Image size)
(Eric) Mogens Vantore, 1895- 1977, (8 pieces in Museums and Notable Collections) adopted the French style, leaning toward Fauvism especially in the style of Andre Derain. His brush work, in particular, shows the deep impression that French painting of the 1920's had on him. Not surprising, since he spent the years 1923-1925 in France.
Vantore captured the essence of this small fishing village before the growth in tourism beginning in the late 1950's; Torremolinos was the first of the Costa del Sol resorts to develop.
Condition: Excellent, recently cleaned. Frame: Very good condition, normal wear and tear (28 1/2 x 32 1/2")
