William Spratling (1900-1967) is generally regarded as the most influential designer and silversmith of the MidCentury Mexican Silver renaissance. His work, frequently showcased in books and exhibitions, is highly prized by collectors worldwide. These wonderful Spratling Modernist sterling silver earrings were handcrafted in his Taxco studio in the early 1940s. The distinctive wild, twisted openwork design was described by Spratling as "lace moons". In very good vintage condition with functional screw backs, they measure about 1" x 3/4". One is hallmarked “Spratling Silver”, the other with WS circle, Spratling Made in Mexico.
