This unique watercolor portrait painting of a venetian village girl holding milk jug seated on stool next to her fluffy white dog. The back of the ornate gilt gesso frame has French label and a handwritten note tells a story on back of frame~venetian provenance: The girl and her dog "brought milk every morning to Venice to my cousin....the artist painted them together" Seems to be unsigned in frame, yet pencil marks are on bottom right with what appears to be a number and initials when examined without frame.
In good condition. Some wear to frame scratches and marks in spots, painting has only one small beige mark above right as shown (note: the photos are showing reflective glare that does not exist on painting) Sturdy gilt gesso frame measures frame measures 20.5" H X 16.25 X 1.75" D.
