This fine heavy Scottish pocket watch was made by Ja. Whitelaw in Edinburgh Circa 1875. The case is heavy, 18k yellow gold with dedication engraving “Presented to Dr. Daniel Resident Surgeon Leith Hospital by the Officers & Constables of the Leith Police Force the Officials of the Sheriff Court House Edinburgh and a number of his Friends on the occasion of his leaving the Hospital 19th November 1875”. The case is in excellent condition with case maker's punch mark "AS" (Alfred Stram). Spectacular single sunk enamel dial with Roman numerals, and gold spade style hands, with sub seconds. Key wound and key set (does not include a key). The movement is near mint condition. Frosted and gilt plates with chain fusee and English lever escapement. Movement serial number is 21241.
