This is a gorgeous hand painted vase signed on the bottom by the artist. It is decorated with poppies, and has lots of gold gilt trim.
It is a completely hand-painted Victorian period porcelain vase. China and porcelain painting became a fashionable hobby for wealthy young women. Painting china was a favorite activity of these privileged young women in the late 19th. century and early 20th. century. There were not many opportunities for creative young women at the time, and they were not encouraged to work at...(gasp) jobs!! Truly a different time!!
SIGNATURES / MARKS: The signature is M. Fischer. There is no makers mark, just the signature of the artist.
ERA: The Victorian period ran from 1837 until 1901. It was said to be a long period of peace, prosperity, and refined sensibilities .
SIZE: This large vase measures 9" high by 8" at the widest part. It has a 5 1/4" opening.
CONDITION: It is in great condition with NO flakes or chips, and NO hairline fractures.
