Vintage Miriam Haskell Beaded Book Chain DANGLE Brooch
This is a Miriam Haskell brooch that is an early 1940’s piece.
A multi-color collection of beads dangle from two leaves entwined with a chain in the book chain style.
Colorful and so typical of early Haskell pieces created by Frank Hess.
Those leaves are Russian Gold, which is not actually gold but gold tone, as is the base of the pin area.
The beads are red, yellow, cream, cobalt blue and mint green.
The clasp is the early unlocking style. Her jewelry was not signed before 1947.
It was actually her brother Joseph Haskell who introduced the first regularly signed Miriam Haskell jewelry.
Great collectors item! Made in USA.
SIZE: Approximately 4” by 2-1/2”.
CONDITION: Good-fair condition. Please note on close inspection some beads are not perfect.
Some finish has darkened and discolored. The wired on construction has seen better days,
but it all seems secure. It is not flopping around.
The bottom line .... it is not like new, but this brooch will still look lovely being worn. It is priced accordingly.
I have reduced the price by 44% because of the condition.
You have to decide if you can accept this level of wear for a rare, unusual and colorful piece.
