This is a lovely traditional Victorian brooch featuring champlevé enameling.
(Champleve is enamelwork in which hollows made in a metal surface are filled with colored enamel.)
The metalwork is quite pretty and the enameling is fresh looking while showing wear.
The material is an alloy and unmarked. In some lights it looks gold and in
other light it looks silver however, it does not test for either sterling silver or gold.
I read this color as light gold.
ERA: Victorian
HALLMARKS: No mark
SIZE: 1-3/4" by 7/8".
CONDITION: Good pre-owned condition. Wear to the enameling.
This brooch appears to have been repaired at some time.
The clasp, while very secure is a replacement.
Your purchase will arrive securely packaged in a new gift box. Thanks so much for visiting my shop.
