MIRIAM HASKELL designed this signed vintage necklace of beautiful glass baroque pearls with tiny Russian gold spacer beads.
These faux baroque pearls have a definite taupe-golden color undertone to them. They are not light in color. This is a very rich color.
MARKS: The clasp is signed Miriam Haskell on one side and has a patent number of 3,984,900 on the other side
ERA: 1975 - according to the patent date.
CONDITION: Fine pre-owned condition. The faux pearls are fine, not perfect but very very nice nacre, and there is extremely light wear to the Russian gold spacers. No verdigris. Please look over the magnified photos since all flaws are GREATLY magnified ...... while in hand and being worn they look great.
SIZE: 26” long. This is called an Opera length necklace. The individual pearls are approximately 5/16" by 1/4" or ( 8mm by 6.5mm on the conversion chart. )
HISTORY: Miriam Haskell began business in 1924 when she came from Indiana to NYC and opened a shop. She started the Miriam Haskell Company in 1926. No jewelry was marked in any permanent way from 1926 until 1947, and only occasionally marked from 1947 until 1949. Haskell sold her business in 1954 to Frank Hess and Morris Kensler, and it has had various owners since then. The company is still in business today.
