Vintage Miriam Haskell baroque glass pearl and coral necklace. Specific to this necklace the coral is real and in natural chunks while the baroque pearls are glass.
It has an early clasp that you push and pull open with the opposite ring. Kind of tricky until you figure it out, but it works beautifully.
SIGNATURES: It is marked in an oval cartouche Miriam Haskell.
CONDITION: Fine pre-owned condition. No verdigris. Some very very light darkening of the Russian gold or brass spacers, but really in very exceptional shape. Secure clasp.
SIZE 30" long. This is a large heavy necklace.
HISTORY: Miriam Haskell began business in 1924 when she came from Indiana to NYC and opened a shop. She started the Miriam Haskell Company in 1926. No jewelry was marked in any permanent way from 1926 until 1947, and only occasionally marked from 1947 until 1949. Haskell sold her business in 1954 to Frank Hess and Morris Kensler, and it has had various owners since then. The company is still in business today.
