These antique woven wool blankets are becoming harder to find. This one is not in perfect condition, but it is so pretty and the green so unusual. I did not have this blanket cleaned. It is in as found condition.
This weaving is in what is called the Chimayo weave, which is basically two stripes and a central design. It was begun in the early years of the 20th Century.
Chimayo is a Hispanic Village just north of Santa Fe, New Mexico. Suitable either for hanging on the wall or using on a table top or floor. Originally owned by a professor / rancher. This gentleman was born in 1887.
ERA: Early 1900's.
CONDITION: Some stains, some holes and fading. The salvage end ties are mostly intact, but not totally. The pictures are very accurate of the condition. Please enlarge and study closely to see if you can live with the faults.
SIZE: 18" by 25" including the fringe.
