This is a great vintage Hobe set consisting of a bracelet and earrings. The bracelet is composed of large faux pearls with flower end caps. Also featuring faceted lucite beads with flower end caps. Separating each of the larger beads is a aurora borealis, AB, glass bead.
What makes this bracelet standout is the white enameled gold tone dangle that holds sparkling clear rhinestones. This is a memory wire bracelet. The matching earrings are a miniature of the bracelet with centers that match the dangle. Marked on the back Hobe.
ERA: 1940's - 1950's
SIZE: The bracelet has a maximum size of approx 8 ½". The dangle ball is 1 ½" across. The clip back earrings measure 1 ¼" across.
CONDITION: Great pre-owned condition! The faux pearls and beads are in excellent condition. The dangle is also in wonderful condition with sparkling crystals and great enamel. The condition of the earrings is super with sparkling crystals, enamel and beads.
HISTORY: The company was founded by Jacques Hobe, in 1883 in France. After WW-ll William Hobe', the son, moved the company to the U.S.A. In California he made jewelry for the Ziegfeld Follies, and catered to the Hollywood crowd. Hobe jewelry is still being made, but has nothing to do with the original family. Hobe provided jewelry to high end department stores and expensive boutiques. It was the "darling" of Hollywood starlets in the 50's.
